Most WordPress plugins follow the same playbook: give you just enough in the free version to get hooked, then lock everything useful behind a paywall.
WP Adminify takes a different approach - and that's exactly what makes this comparison worth writing.
If you've been using the free version of WP Adminify and wondering whether Pro is worth the upgrade, you're not alone. It's one of the most common questions in the WP Adminify community. And the honest answer isn't a simple yes or no. It depends entirely on who you are and what you need.
In this post, we went inside the actual WP Adminify settings panel - every single tab - and documented which features are free, which require Pro, and which are reserved for the Agency plan. No guesswork. No vague marketing claims. Just the facts, so you can make a smarter decision.
Let's get into it.
WP Adminify Free vs Pro: the short answer
Short answer: the free version of WP Adminify is enough if you just want to customize the WordPress dashboard for yourself — you get the admin menu editor, dark mode, media folders, custom dashboard widgets, and admin columns without paying. You upgrade to Pro when you need the client-facing layer: white label branding, custom admin pages, and hiding admin notices.
| Free | Pro | |
| Dashboard UI templates | 2 built-in | 10 (8 premium templates) |
| Light / dark mode + custom logo | ||
| Custom background, body font, admin favicon | ||
| Admin menu editor — 6 menu styles, full colour control | ||

| Security cleanup (REST API, feeds, comments, headers) | ||
| Full white label / client-facing rebrand | Agency plan |
Everything below is the long answer: we went through the WordPress admin dashboard tab by tab and documented exactly which option is free, which needs WP Adminify Pro, and which is Agency-only. (Updated July 2026)

- Customize- Dashboard look and feel
- Admin Menu- Full menu control
- Productivity- Tools to speed up your workflow
- Security- Lockdown and cleanup
- Performance- Optimize resource usage
- Code Snippets- CSS/JS injection
- White Label- Branding and identity
- Backup- Import/export settings
Let's walk through each one.
Plans Overview
Before we dive in, here's how WP Adminify's plans are structured:
| Plan | Best For |
|---|---|
| Free | Individual users, bloggers, developers |
| Pro | Freelancers, site owners, power users |
| Agency | Agencies, white-label client work |
You can install the free version directly from WordPress.org. Pro and Agency plans are available at wpadminify.com/pricing.
💡 Pro tip: Start with the free version. It's genuinely feature-rich and you may not need to upgrade at all - depending on your use case. We'll help you figure that out below.
Customize - Dashboard Look & Feel
This is the first thing you see when you open WP Adminify settings, and it's where the magic of admin transformation starts.

Free Features in the Customize Tab
Adminify UI Toggle
This single toggle is arguably the most powerful free feature in the entire plugin. Flip it on and your entire WordPress admin dashboard transforms - from the default WordPress look to a clean, modern, professional interface. No configuration needed.
2 Built-in UI Templates
Free users get access to two dashboard templates: a clean light layout and a dark-themed version. Both look dramatically better than the default WordPress admin and are ready to use instantly.
Light/Dark Mode
Enable Light Mode, Dark Mode, or let it follow the user's OS settings. The Layout Mode toggle, logo upload fields, and the mini logo option for the collapsed sidebar are all completely free.
Custom Logo
Upload your own logo for the admin dashboard - choose between image or text type, with full size control (width, height, px/%/em units). You can also set a mini logo that appears when the sidebar is collapsed.
Header Elements
Show or hide the Search Form, Notifications Icon, and the Light/Dark Mode Switcher from the admin header bar - all free.
Pro Features in the Customize Tab
8 Additional Premium UI Templates
Pro users unlock 8 more stunning dashboard templates - from bold accent colors to dark sidebars to a color wheel picker where you create an entirely custom palette. Each one completely transforms the dashboard aesthetic.
Custom Background
Set a fully custom background for your WordPress admin area - solid color, gradient, or custom image. Makes your dashboard feel truly one-of-a-kind.

Body Font
Change the global font family used across the entire admin dashboard. Pick any font to match your brand or your client's style guide. A small detail that makes a big difference in branded setups.
Admin Favicon
Upload a custom favicon specifically for the WordPress admin area. When your client opens /wp-admin/, they'll see your branded favicon in the browser tab - not the default WordPress logo.
Gutenberg Editor Logo
Replace the WordPress block editor logo with your own. Every time your client opens the Gutenberg editor, they see your agency's logo instead of the WordPress "W".
Post Status Background Colors
Color-code your post rows by their publication status - Published (green), Pending (yellow), Draft (grey), Future (blue), Private (purple), Trash (red). This is a massive workflow improvement for content-heavy sites.

Customize Tab Verdict
The free Customize options already transform your dashboard dramatically. Pro is worth it here if you want premium UI templates, custom admin favicon, branded fonts, or color-coded post statuses for faster content management.
Admin Menu - Total Menu Control
The Admin Menu tab is where WP Adminify really separates itself from the competition. What's remarkable is how much of this tab is completely free - including features that other plugins charge for.

Free Features in the Admin Menu Tab
Full Drag-and-Drop Menu Editor
Reorder any WordPress admin menu item by simply dragging and dropping. Rename menu items, change icons, hide items from specific user roles - all without writing any code. This single feature replaces dedicated admin menu editor plugins entirely.
Menu Type: Vertical or Horizontal
Switch between a classic vertical sidebar menu and a modern horizontal navigation bar that spans the top of the admin area. The horizontal menu gives the dashboard a sleek, app-like appearance and is very popular for agency client handoffs.
Menu Mode
Three display modes:
- Default- the standard expanded sidebar
- Folded- collapsed to icons-only by default
- Rounded- rounded, card-style menu items with a softer aesthetic
Sub Menu Style
Control exactly how submenus behave:
- Two Step- WordPress default behaviour
- Accordion- smooth open/close animation
- Toggle- instant show/hide toggle
Full Typography Controls
Set font size, line height, and letter spacing for all admin menu items. Available completely free.
Menu Width & Padding Controls
Adjust the sidebar menu width, wrapper padding (top/right/bottom/left), parent menu item vertical padding, submenu wrapper padding, and submenu item vertical padding. Granular layout control at no cost.
Full Color Customization
This is exceptional for a free feature. You get total color control over:
- Parent menu: background, hover background, text color, text hover, active background, active text
- Submenu: background, hover background, text color, text hover, active background, active text
- Notification badge: background and text color
Pro Features in the Admin Menu Tab
User Info with Avatar
Display the logged-in user's avatar and display name on the admin sidebar. It adds a personalized, polished touch to client-facing dashboards.
Add Seperator
You can add custom seperator to overwrite the default WordPress admin menu seperator.

Add Custom menu items
Not only the parent menu iteam, but also you can create main menu and sub menu items.

Productivity - Work Smarter, Not Harder
The Productivity tab is the most feature-dense tab in the entire plugin. WP Adminify replaces multiple separate plugins here with a single unified toolset. And the majority of it is free.

Free Features in the Productivity Tab
Media Folders
Organize your WordPress media library into unlimited folders and subfolders - directly from the Media Library screen. Create folders, drag files in, and find assets in seconds instead of scrolling through hundreds of unorganized files. Supported for all media file types. This is a free feature that replaces premium media folder plugins.
Post & Page Folders
Create folders for your Posts and Pages list views. Drag content into folders for clean, structured organization. Perfect for editorial teams or site owners managing large volumes of content.
Dashboard & Welcome Widget Builder
Build fully custom dashboard widgets with a rich text editor. Add welcome messages, embed YouTube videos, display RSS feeds, insert shortcodes, or write formatted onboarding instructions for clients. All free.

Post Types Order
Reorder any custom post type using a simple drag-and-drop interface. Works with posts, pages, WooCommerce products, and any registered custom post type.
Menu Duplicator
Duplicate any WordPress navigation menu with one click. Saves time when building similar menus for staging vs. production environments.
Post Duplicator
Clone posts, pages, and custom post types in a single click - including WooCommerce products. Compatible with Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, Bricks, and all major page builders. Draft, published, or pending posts can all be duplicated. Free.
Custom Admin Columns
Add custom columns to any post type list screen to surface extra data (like custom field values, ACF fields, or metadata) directly in the post list. No coding needed.
Media Settings (Attachment Page Control)
Configure attachment-related behaviors for your WordPress media. Free.
Post Thumbnails on RSS Feed
Show or hide featured image thumbnails in your RSS feed excerpts. A useful toggle for content publishers. Free.
Widgets Removal
Remove unwanted default widgets from the WordPress dashboard and frontend sidebar widget areas. Clean up what your clients or users see without touching any theme files.
Disable Gutenberg for Widgets
Switch the Widgets screen back to the classic widget interface instead of the block editor. Useful for older themes or client sites where the block widget editor causes confusion.
Pro Features in the Productivity Tab
Hide Admin Notices
This is one of the most-loved Pro features. WordPress plugins love to shout at you - update notices, review requests, promotional banners, license reminders. One toggle in WP Adminify silences all of it and gives you back a clean, distraction-free dashboard.
If you manage sites for clients, this is not optional. No client should log in and see a wall of plugin alerts.

Hide Screen Options & Help Tab
Remove the "Screen Options" dropdown and "Help" tab that appear at the top of most WordPress admin screens. These controls confuse clients and clutter the UI. Pro users can hide them globally with one toggle.
Admin Pages (Custom Admin Pages)
Create fully custom admin pages and insert them anywhere in the admin menu as top-level items or submenu items. These pages support all major page builders - Gutenberg, Elementor, Bricks, Oxygen, and Divi.
Use cases include client onboarding pages, branded help documentation, internal resource libraries, and custom tool pages embedded directly into the WordPress backend. This is a premium feature that would otherwise require custom plugin development.
Action Workflows for Folders
Extend the folder system with automated action workflows for advanced content organization. Pro only.
Infinite Scroll for Media Library
Re-enable infinite scrolling in the media library grid view. Makes browsing large media collections much smoother without having to paginate. Pro only.
Productivity Tab Verdict
The free productivity features alone make WP Adminify worth installing - you get media folders, post duplicator, custom dashboard widgets, post type ordering, and more without spending a dollar. The Pro additions - especially Hide Admin Notices and Admin Pages- are essential tools for any freelancer or agency delivering professional client sites.
Security - Protect and Clean Up Your Site

Free Features in the Security Tab
Header Security
Remove WordPress-generated traces from your site's <head> section - including the WordPress generator meta tag, the Windows Live Writer manifest link, the RSD link, and other default tags that expose the fact that your site runs on WordPress. Hiding these reduces the surface area for bots that target WordPress-specific vulnerabilities.
Disable Feed Links (RSS / Atom / RDF)
With one toggle, disable all WordPress RSS, Atom, and RDF feeds - including post feeds, category feeds, tag feeds, comment feeds, author feeds, and search feeds. All feed URLs are also redirected, preventing 404 errors. This is especially useful for sites that don't need RSS, as unused feeds can expose content structure to scrapers.
REST API Restriction
Disable REST API access for non-authenticated (logged-out) users and remove REST API URL traces from the <head> tag, HTTP headers, and the WP RSD endpoint. This is one of the most important WordPress hardening steps you can take - and it's completely free in WP Adminify.
Disable Comments
Turn off WordPress comments globally or for specific public post types. When disabled, existing comments are also hidden on the frontend and the Comments menu item is removed from the admin sidebar. This feature completely replaces the popular standalone "Disable Comments" plugin.
Post & Archives Redirect
Redirect unused WordPress archive pages - such as date-based archives and author archive pages - to your homepage. This prevents thin, low-value pages from being crawled, which is also a minor SEO benefit.
Custom Gravatar Images
Upload your own custom default avatar image for the WordPress comments system. Instead of the default silhouette or mystery man, your visitors and commenters will see your branded avatar. The custom image is selected via the Settings → Discussion screen.
Pro Feature in the Security Tab
Redirect URLs (Role-Based Login/Logout Redirects)
This is one of the most powerful Pro features for agencies. After login or logout, WordPress normally redirects everyone to the same dashboard or homepage. With WP Adminify Pro, you can set custom redirect URLs based on user role - send administrators to the full dashboard, editors to the post list, subscribers to their profile page, and clients to your custom onboarding page.
This creates a completely tailored experience for every type of user on your site, without any custom code.

Security Tab Verdict
Performance - Speed Up Your Admin
A slow WordPress admin dashboard is frustrating. The Performance tab gives you practical tools to reduce backend load and clean up unnecessary scripts - most of which are available for free.
[SCREENSHOT]
📸 Filename: wp-adminify-performance-tab-settings.jpg
Alt tag: WP Adminify Performance tab showing disable embeds Pro, control heartbeat API Pro, and performance enhancement checkboxes
Free Features in the Performance Tab
Performance Enhancements (8 individual checkboxes)
This is a goldmine of free optimizations. Each one is an individual toggle that you can enable or disable:
- Remove Dashicons from frontend for public visitors- WordPress loads its icon font (Dashicons) even for logged-out visitors who never see the admin bar. Disabling this saves an HTTP request on every frontend page load.
- Remove version numbers from Styles/Scripts- Removes
?ver=x.x.xquery strings from CSS and JS files, which can improve caching behavior and reduces WordPress version fingerprinting. - Remove Gravatar Query Strings- Cleans up Gravatar image URLs by removing query parameters, which some caching systems handle more efficiently.
- Remove all Emoji styles and scripts from head section- WordPress includes a JavaScript file and CSS block just to render emojis. If you don't use emojis in your content, this removes it entirely - saving resources on every page load.
- Remove frontend jQuery Migrate script- jQuery Migrate is loaded for backwards compatibility with older plugins. On modern sites, it's often unused dead weight.
- Remove backend jQuery Migrate script- Same as above, but for the WordPress admin area. (Note: This can occasionally cause conflicts with older plugins - test before enabling.)
- Enable Defer Parsing of JS to Footer- Moves JavaScript execution to after the HTML is loaded, which can improve perceived page load speed.
- Enable Browser Cache Expires & GZIP Compression- Adds HTTP cache headers and enables GZIP, reducing file sizes for repeat visitors.

Disable Gutenberg for Specific Post Types
Clean up the Gutenberg block editor form and template for any post type you choose. Useful when you want to limit the block editor to only the content types that actually need it, reducing unnecessary script loading everywhere else.
Pro Features in the Performance Tab
Disable Embeds
WordPress automatically loads oEmbed support everywhere - in the REST API, the <head> tag, TinyMCE editor, and in remote results. Unless you rely heavily on embedding external content, this is pure overhead. WP Adminify Pro lets you disable all embeds globally in one click.
Control Heartbeat API
This is one of the single most impactful Pro features in the entire plugin - especially for sites on shared hosting or VPS environments with limited CPU resources.
The WordPress Heartbeat API sends AJAX requests to your server every 15–60 seconds to handle features like autosave, post locking, and login expiry detection. On busy sites or servers with tight CPU limits, this constant background polling can slow everything down.
WP Adminify Pro lets you modify the Heartbeat interval or disable it completely - and you can configure this separately for three contexts:
- Admin pages (Dashboard, settings pages, etc.)
- Post creation/edit screens (where autosave matters most)
- Frontend (where Heartbeat is almost never needed)
This level of granular Heartbeat control is something that standalone Heartbeat control plugins provide - and it's included in WP Adminify Pro at no extra cost.

Performance Tab Verdict
Code Snippets - Add CSS & JS Without a Plugin
The Code Snippets tab is one of WP Adminify's most underrated features - and it's entirely free.
[SCREENSHOT]

Alt tag: WP Adminify Code Snippets tab showing Admin Scripts with custom CSS editor and custom JavaScript editor for the WordPress admin area
Free Features in the Code Snippets Tab (All Free)
The Code Snippets tab is organized into two sub-tabs: Admin Scripts and Frontend Scripts.
Admin Scripts → Custom CSS
Write and inject your own CSS directly into the WordPress admin area - without editing any theme or plugin files. Use it to tweak colors, adjust spacing, hide elements, or apply any custom styling to the backend. The editor uses a clean, syntax-highlighted code editor.
Admin Scripts → Custom JavaScript
Inject custom JavaScript that runs in the WordPress admin area. Add custom interactions, integrate third-party scripts, or extend admin functionality without creating a custom plugin.
Frontend Scripts (via Custom Header & Footer addon)
The Frontend Scripts sub-tab integrates with the Custom Header & Footer plugin to let you inject custom CSS and JavaScript into your site's frontend <head> and <footer> sections - also for free once the companion plugin is activated.
Code Snippets Tab Verdict
White Label - Brand the Dashboard as Your Own
The White Label tab is where WP Adminify becomes an indispensable tool for agencies and freelancers who build WordPress sites for clients.
[SCREENSHOT]
📸 Filename: wp-adminify-white-label-tab-wordpress-branding.jpg
Alt tag: WP Adminify White Label tab showing Admin Footer settings and WP Adminify Branding section marked as Agency or Higher Plan Only
Free Features in the White Label Tab
Admin Footer - Right Side System Info
The bottom-right corner of every WordPress admin page normally shows just "WordPress" and the version number. WP Adminify replaces this with a configurable system information bar. You can choose to show or hide any of the following - all free:
- IP Address
- PHP Version
- WordPress Version
- Memory Usage
- Memory Limit
- Memory Available
This is a genuinely useful at-a-glance dashboard for developers and site managers.
Admin Footer Text - Left Side Custom Text
Replace the default "Thank you for creating with WordPress" footer text with anything you want. This field supports rich text formatting - you can add your agency name, a client support link, contact information, or any branded message. Full HTML is supported. Completely free.
Agency Plan Features in the White Label Tab
The following settings are labeled "Agency or Higher Plan Only" - meaning they require the Agency-tier plan or above:
[SCREENSHOT]
📸 Filename: wp-adminify-white-label-plugin-branding-agency-plan.jpg
Alt tag: WP Adminify Agency plan white label branding settings showing light logo dark logo plugin name description developer name menu label and menu icon fields
Light Logo & Dark Logo
Replace the WP Adminify logo in the settings panel with your own agency's logo - separately for light mode and dark mode. When your clients open the WP Adminify settings page, they see your brand, not Adminify's.
Plugin Name
Change the plugin's display name. Instead of "WP Adminify Pro" appearing in the plugin list and admin menu, it can show your agency's product name - e.g., "Acme Dashboard Pro."
Plugin Description
Replace the plugin description shown in the WordPress Plugins list with your own branded description.
Developer/Agency Name
Set the developer/agency name that appears in plugin meta information.
Menu Label
Change the text label of the WP Adminify item in the WordPress admin sidebar to anything you choose.
Menu Icon
Upload a custom icon for the admin menu item, replacing the default Adminify icon with your agency's logo or icon.
Plugin URL
Set the URL that the plugin name in the Plugins list links to - point it to your own agency website or client portal instead of wpadminify.com.
Hide All Row Meta Links
Hides all plugin meta links (Upgrade, Settings, Account) from the plugins list row - so clients don't see anything that reveals the plugin's origin.
Remove Specific Action Links
Selectively remove individual action links from the Plugins list: Upgrade, Activate/Change License, Settings, and Account. Remove only what you don't want clients clicking.
Force Disable White Label
A security toggle that completely hides all White Label settings from the panel. To access them again, you'd need to deactivate and reactivate the plugin. This prevents clients or other administrators from accidentally discovering or changing your white-label configuration.
White Label Tab Verdict
Backup - Import & Export Settings
[SCREENSHOT]
📸 Filename: wp-adminify-backup-import-export-settings.jpg

Export & Download Settings
Export your entire WP Adminify configuration as a JSON file with one click. All your customizations - dashboard templates, menu settings, productivity toggles, security settings, performance options, code snippets, and white label settings - are saved into a single downloadable file.
Import Settings
Paste a previously exported JSON config into the import field and click Import to restore your entire WP Adminify setup instantly. This is perfect for:
- Migrating settings from a development/staging site to a production site
- Replicating your setup across multiple client sites
- Backing up your configuration before making major changes
- Creating agency templates that you apply to every new client site you build
Both Import and Export are fully free for all users - no plan restriction whatsoever.

- Needs to redirect different user roles to different pages after login - admins to the full dashboard, clients to their custom page (Redirect URLs)

Upgrade to Agency If…
You are an agency, studio, or developer who builds and hands off WordPress sites at scale and:
- You deliver finished WordPress sites to clients under your own brand - not under WP Adminify's name
- You want your clients to see your logo, your plugin name, and your company's identity everywhere in the WordPress backend - with zero trace of WP Adminify
- You need the ability to fully rebrand the plugin - renaming it, replacing its logo, changing the sidebar icon, setting your own plugin URL
- You want to lock down the plugin branding settings so clients can never accidentally discover or change them (Force Disable White Label)
- You manage 10, 20, or 50+ client sites and need a consistent, professional, agency-branded WordPress experience on all of them
The Agency plan's white-label features are not a luxury - they are a professional necessity for any agency serious about delivering polished, branded client experiences. One agency client who stays longer because of a great dashboard experience more than justifies the cost.
→ Get the WP Adminify Agency Plan
Final Verdict
After going through every single option in the WP Adminify settings panel - all 8 tabs, all 85 features - here's our honest conclusion:
WP Adminify's free version is one of the most generous free plans in the WordPress plugin ecosystem.
Most plugins that offer admin customization gate everything meaningful behind a paywall. WP Adminify gives you a modern dashboard skin, a full drag-and-drop menu editor with complete color and typography control, post duplicator, media folders, dashboard widget builder, security hardening, performance cleanup, and custom CSS/JS injection - all completely free. That's not common.
The Pro plan is a legitimate upgrade - not a cash grab.
The features locked behind Pro - Heartbeat API control, Hide Admin Notices, Admin Pages, role-based redirects, premium templates, Disable Embeds - are all features that solve real problems. Not artificial limitations designed to make you feel like you're missing out. If you run client sites or manage a professional WordPress workflow, you'll reach for these Pro features regularly.
The Agency plan is built for one specific person: the agency owner who sells WordPress sites.
If that's not you, you don't need it. If it is you, it's not optional.
